SCHOOL ENTRANCE AGE / ELIGIBILITY FOR GRADE K/1 ATTENDANCE
Children who will be five years of age on or before September 1st of any school year shall be eligible to attend kindergarten.
Children who will be six years of age on or before September 1 of any school year and have successfully completed a state-recognized or accredited kindergarten program shall be eligible to enter first grade.
Those children who have reached six years of age before September 1st of any school year, but have not successfully completed kindergarten shall attend kindergarten.
Children who attain the age of five or six between September 1st and October 1st, inclusive of both dates, of the school year in which they seek to enroll in Kindergarten or first grade shall follow the waiver process outlined in policy JEBA. Those students who have reached six years of age on or before October 1st who have successfully completed Kindergarten at a public school are not required to follow the waiver process.
