Physical Examinations of Students

In keeping with the District’s commitment to student health and wellness, all children enrolling in the Smithfield Public Schools for the first time must present documentation of a physical examination completed by a health care provider within a year prior to admittance or 6 months after entering any previous school program. A school program may include Head Start, early childhood, or any other school based program.

Routine health screenings including areas such as vision, hearing, dental and scoliosis will be conducted on students in certain grade levels according to Rhode Island Rules and Regulations. Parents will be notified of the need for further evaluation and assistance will be provided in finding available community financial and health resources.
