Honesty on Applications for Employment

The following policy was submitted for a first reading at the School Committee Meeting of October 19, 2020 and will be considered for adoption at the November 2, 2020 School Committee Meeting.

The District uses a variety of means for soliciting applications for employment and for reviewing those applications to determine the best match for district needs. This process is best accomplished when applications for employment contain accurate and truthful information.

Each application submitted to the District either electronically or on paper shall include a signature verifying the following:

I certify that the facts set forth in this Application for Employment are true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I understand that if I am employed, false statements, omissions or misrepresentations may result in my dismissal. I authorize the Smithfield Public School District to make an investigation of any of the facts set forth in this application and release the District from any liability. The employer may contact any listed references on this application.

If information on the application is later found to be false or misleading, the District may institute discipline, up to and including termination of employment.
